Time for a cap reset?
by Kosmic28 @ 6/30/2026 3:09 pm
I looked over most of the teams in the league regarding dead cap and cap used next year. One team has used all their cap for next year already. Some teams have dead cap issues.
How many are in favor of a dead cap reset for this year and next year (if I'm able to do that)? Let me know. I'd like to do it before tomorrows game. Thanks.

I understand cap resets for computer led teams when someone takes over. BUT teams that has been ran by same player long term shouldn't get them repeatedly. Cap management is a part of building a team . rewarding people for signing players to dumb contracts and then trading or releasing them should come at a cost. at least that is my opinion, and I will be fine with what the majority wants

Thanks for your input, shavar. I'm not sure how often dead cap cleared actually happen. Your point is well made. Thanks.

I won't be resetting the dead cap at this time. I am one of the teams that is going to get bit by this dead cap situation. It would not be honorable to reset the cap if I'm one of the one's in trouble. So no reset at this time.

Well, that's fair enough - but it is okay to reset the cap when nobody asked for it, other than that other coaches were not paying attention to their final season player contracts ???

Personally, I hate the cap (not an accountant)....give me a Gameplan Only league - kind of opposite to Rosters Only league.

I'm not a fan of salary caps either. However, playing this game, and dealing with the salary cap issues and all its' problems, I have a better understanding of what the real NFL clubs must go through and why they do, or have to do, what they do to stay under the salary cap.

I wish there was a way to compensate those managers, who are vigilant of their teams salary cap to ensure their salary cap is good, yet be able to reset the salary cap, maybe 50%-80%, so all owners can have a good season.

That's an intriguing concept but JDB has his hands full and this may not be the right time to present it.
