The Dallas Cowboys opened their 2027 preseason with a tough 77-10 loss at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens on August 7. The game, played in Baltimore, was marked by Baltimore's explosive offense and stifling defense under head coach Joseph Roland, while Cowboys coach Christopher Evans and his team struggled to mount any sustained offense.
The Ravens struck early in the first quarter when Joshua Cervantes scored on a 55-yard run just over nine minutes into the game. Kicker Ryan McSweeney added the extra point, putting Baltimore ahead 7-0. The Cowboys quickly responded on special teams with Michael Spady taking a kickoff return 109 yards for a touchdown, tying the game at 7-7 after Austin Atkinson's extra point.
Baltimore regained the lead with a McSweeney 38-yard field goal to make it 10-7. The Ravens then pulled away in the second quarter with a series of big plays from QB Sam Daniels, who threw six touchdown passes throughout the game. John Condon was a primary target, collecting 123 receiving yards and scoring four receiving touchdowns.
Condon's big plays included a 46-yard touchdown reception shortly after the second quarter began, followed by a 61-yard touchdown catch minutes later. The Ravens widened the margin to 31-7 by halftime, with the Cowboys managing only a field goal from Austin Atkinson late in the second quarter.
The third quarter saw more domination by Baltimore. Daniels threw another touchdown pass to Condon from two yards out. Ravens running back Jose McKinley was also a key contributor, rushing for 192 yards. Baltimore as a team rushed for 556 yards with six rushing touchdowns, overwhelming the Cowboys' defense that was unable to record any sacks and gave up 10 sacks in total to the Ravens.
The Cowboys totaled 91 passing yards with quarterback Walter Stewart completing 11 of 28 passes and throwing one interception. Their rushing attack produced 139 yards but no touchdowns. Defensively, the Cowboys recorded two interceptions but were unable to stop the Ravens from scoring on multiple big plays.
Penalties were limited for the Cowboys with two infractions for seven yards, while the Ravens committed eight penalties for 65 yards. Neither team converted any third downs during the game.
Preseason play often serves as a test for coaches, and in this game, Christopher Evans will be looking for ways to improve offensive production and defensive resilience before regular-season action begins. The Cowboys' lone scoring drives came via special teams and a late second-quarter field goal, but they could not match the Ravens' balanced attack.
The Cowboys face the Rams in their next preseason game, aiming to find rhythm and close the wide gap exposed in this Baltimore contest.
