ARLINGTON, TX — The Cowboys secured a commanding 37-13 victory over the Saints at AT&T Stadium on Monday, advancing past the Conference Championship in the 2027 season. Under head coach Christopher Evans, the Cowboys built an early lead and never looked back against the visiting Saints, coached by Larry Mitchell.

The game’s momentum swung quickly in the first quarter. The Cowboys capitalized early when safety Ron Fellows intercepted a pass from Saints quarterback David Peterson at the New Orleans 21-yard line and returned it for a 21-yard touchdown, giving Dallas a 6-0 lead. The ensuing extra point by Austin Atkinson put the Cowboys up 7-0 with 9:40 remaining in the first.

Despite a 39-yard field goal from Ronald Montgomery narrowing the gap to 7-3, the Cowboys continued to control the field position battle. Austin Atkinson contributed with a 41-yard field goal late in the first quarter, extending the lead to 10-3.

The second quarter saw the Saints draw even at 10-10 after Peterson connected with Chris Davis for a 6-yard touchdown. Montgomery’s extra point was good. The Saints later edged ahead 13-10 following a 50-yard field goal by Montgomery at 2:36 in the second quarter.

However, Dallas responded before halftime as Atkinson converted a 36-yard field goal, tying the game 13-13 going into the break.

The Cowboys’ offense gained traction after halftime, helped by strong performances from quarterback Michael Turner, who threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Kenneth Graham, who rushed for 85 yards and scored a touchdown. The Cowboys’ rushing attack totaled 154 yards on 24 carries with two rushing touchdowns, including a score by fullback Billy Joe DuPree.

Receivers Albert Almaraz and DuPree were notable targets, with Almaraz hauling in 79 receiving yards and DuPree adding 51 receiving yards alongside his rushing touchdown. Brandon Rutland contributed a touchdown reception as well, rounding out a diverse offensive effort.

Defensively, the Cowboys recorded five sacks and forced two interceptions, limiting the Saints’ passing yardage to 132 and their rushing output to 147 yards. David Peterson struggled with two interceptions, both of which helped Dallas maintain momentum.

Penalty-wise, both teams had seven penalties, with Dallas being penalized 43 yards compared to 65 yards for the Saints.

The Cowboys’ special teams also played a role, with Percy Johnson delivering several long punts that consistently pinned the Saints deep in their territory.

Overall, the Cowboys dominated possession and capitalized on key turnovers to seal a decisive 37-13 win at home.

With this victory, Christopher Evans’ Cowboys move forward in the conference, demonstrating balanced offensive execution and a disruptive defense throughout the game.
