That was a large load! Well, when the marine's start feeling their oats, and most of them are built like brick chicken houses, get to playing ball, I'm sure a few helmets got wasted as well.
One thing, that I will never forget, at the clubhouse bar for the Rams golf tournament, one of the old Rams linemen passed out, right on the floor, face down. We had been drinking the whole time during the golfing too. HOFer Tom Fears, who was in his mid to late 60s at the time, got off his bar stool and picked the big ol guy off the floor and slung him over his shoulders, carried him out to the parking lot and put him in the back of his pickup truck. Like it was no big deal, lol. He was amazing.

Here's a great story, told to me by my friend at the time, former Ram LB Rick Kay. When he was playing for Colorado. The Buffs and Ohio State were both ranked in top ten, 1971. Obviously it was a TV game, and Woody was goin crazy halfway on the field yellin at the ref, he took off his cap and threw it down on the field. Rick was on the field and snuck behind the commotion and grabbed the cap and stuffed it under his jersey in his pants. Woody was going nuts trying to find his hat, lol. Rick got away with it and kept it, it was one of his most prized possessions. Colorado upset the Buckeyes in that game, 20-14, breaking OSU's home field win streak at 19 games.

Now that story is priceless! Woody was a borderline crazy *** anyway, especially during a game, and especially against USC, whom the Bucks always had a very difficult time beating. Woody loved throwing his hat on the ground. I wonder how many hats he lost track of that way. Great story!!!
Amazing! What was Fears like? I wonder if Hirsch was still alive at that time? I would've loved to meet all the Rams but if I could've met Hirsch, Fears, Van Brocklin, Waterfield and the entire Fearsome Foursome, I would've had a fan fest overload. LOL. It would be like meeting Groza, Graham, Brown, Joe Turkey Jones, Babich, Warfield, and Clay Matthews, same result for me.

I didnt get the chance to talk to him, he was pretty quiet, didnt drink as much as the others, thats for sure. Hirsch wasnt there, I dont think he participated in that group, didnt see any of the F Foursome either. It was a mix of famous Rams and not so famous, lol. Youngblood was impressive, he was one of two football players Ive seen that looked like upside down pyramids, huge shoulders and chest. The other one was on my Juco team, and was a psycho defensive lineman, we called him Crazy Harry.
GG Koz, thought your Rams were going to put us in a 10 or 14 point bucket in the first qtr, but the pick saved us. My secondary is good play bad play so far, and we're getting away with it. Moved "Shoes" up to RB2, and he has been doing better than expected. Also switched up the CBs, so far "Soup" has had a hard time in the CB2 spot, so thought I would move him to the other side and see if it improved things, guess so, he got a PotW award. Bulger and your receivers made swiss cheese out of the Charger D on that first drive, and was doing it again on the 2nd drive following the pick TO, but then the pick by "Soup" happened, which was a real saver including the yardage he got on the return. The game changed after that, 7-7 tie at the half, then we had a good 2nd half to pull away, Kohlers KOR was huge after you got the FG to get within 7. GL rest of the season, may we do it one more time this season, ha! :)
Before the internet, there were several pulbications I would get, especially the pre season editions. Looks like that cover illustration was done by the guy from Mad magazine, am sure.
Good win, Falcons. We were in the giving mode with the turnovers lol.

Very good game! That KO return for 6 didn't hurt you any. You had my 5wr set smacked around as Bulger spent more time on his back than he was passing. LOL. Also, I have to go back and read the log but I swear I saw one of my cornerbacks (Monte Jackson) play WR. What??? I also thought I was playing the Houston Oiler teams as Billy "White Shoes" Johnson, Bethea, and others were playing. Hmmmm. You don't get to see any more 5w formations when I play you again.!! Congrats on a great win!
