Here's a great pic from an Oiler Browns game, would guess in Cleveland, cuz it sure doesnt look like the Astrodome, or even Houston in the winter, ha. Did the Browns choose the normally away white uniforms to blend with the snow? Thats OL Bruce Mathews/Oilers and his brother, LB Clay Mathews Jr. Quite a family of NFL players, do you know how many they had? Answer is under the pic.........
The Matthews family has had seven members play in the NFL across three generations. Often called the "NFL's First Family," they have collectively earned 25 Pro Bowl invitations and 11 first-team All-Pro selections
Wow, that was the craziest CC game that Ive been in to date in MFN, and thats a lot of CC games, lol. Giving up 21 right away and going into the half down 17 was a shocker. Getting into OT was a miracle after the way it had been going. Reminded me of the Pats/Falcons Super Bowl. Fittingly, the game ended on a pick thrown and a FG made. This is one the games you dont forget. GL my friend in the final, once you have fully recovered from this one, ha.
Well I chewed off half my fingernails on that one lol. That was an instant classic, Grandad! My son and I watched together and I told him no lead is safe against the Oilers. Boy, that was true. Congrats on a great season and we'll do our best to represent the AFC in the big game.
Congrats everyone on a great season. I have a lot of work to do on the Saints defense. Good luck to the Cowboys and Browns for what is sure to be a great championship game.
Good luck to the Cowboys and Browns as they meet in GOSH Super Bowl I. The bookies have it as an even line as both teams are gifted with great lineups. It should be a great game!! Note: I was born, raised, and still live near the Cleveland area and am a huge Browns fan. Unfortunately, for me, and the city of Cleveland, is that this is the closest the "the real NFL Browns" will ever get to a Super Bowl any time soon. (groan). I can remember the four times the Browns got so close but lost it at the end of the game. 1. vs Oakland-Red Right 88 and Sipe's interception in the end zone. 2. vs Denver- "The Drive"-Elway drives his team 98 yds with a little over 5 minutes to win the game. 3. vs Denver-"The Fumble"-Byner has a clear lane to the goal line to score the go ahead touchdown to finally get the Browns to their first Super Bowl. He fumbles. Game over. 4. vs KC in division playoff game-The obvious Head to Head Penalty that wasn't called. Browns receiver makes it to KC's 1 and gets rammed, with powerful head contact, that was never called. QB: Baker Mayfield. He ends up getting tossed into the street like a piece of trash. Conspiracy Theory Analysis: The NFL, powers that be, don't think that their is enough people that would be interested in seeing the Browns in the Super Bowl. I think, though, their still a little bit miffed that the Browns won 8 Championships, 4 in the AFL, 4 in the NFL (before the Super Bowl era), with Otto Graham as QB, back in the late 40's and 50's. Paul Brown was the coach. Oh yes, a guy named Jim Brown played for the Browns during their 1964 Championship run as well. Again, good luck to the Browns and Cowboys!!!
Thanks, Kosmic! I hear you concerning the real Cleveland Browns. Imagine, if you will, a similar life as a Vikings fan. Been cheering for the purple since I was 8 (almost 50 years). The Drew Pearson push off that was never called, Darrin Nelson dropping a for sure winning TD in the NFC Championship vs SF, the Gary Anderson wide left, and who could ever forget gregg williams and bountygate? Very sad memories, indeed. The immediate outlook is pretty bleak for them as well. But, like a lost puppy dog, I continue to follow them no matter what lol.
I wish the Cowboys and loanBlood a good game tomorrow. I will be at a doc appt early in the morning so I won't see the game until around lunch time. Until then, have a great day everyone!
I remember the days of the "Purple People Eaters", Fran "the man" Tarkenton, Bud Grant, and the 4 NFC Conference Championship parties followed by the "not so fun" Super Bowl let downs. They don't hold the very undistinguished record of losing 4 Super Bowls in a row. That record belongs to the Buffalo Bills. Keep the faith. I truly think the Vikes are turning the corner to go where better things happen.
Just lost a 15-14 LC game in Paydirt, on last drive that had two 4th down situations, both completes for first down. Then a play overuse penalty caused a 30 yd gain and put them in FG position with less than a minute to go. Been a tough week, ha!
I sent JDB a PM asking him to consider fixing three things.
1. Play overuse penalty. It either needs to be equalized or removed. Replace it with a full play selection 40/30 with max play use per half, lets say 6 times. 10 times per game total.
2. AI team management on contracts, blue chip players, 1st and 2nd round draft picks, need to be re-signed instead of let go to the FA market and large max contracts for 60-70 rated players with 10 yrs or more exp need to be eliminated or reduced.
3. 3. Player conversions, would like to see player conversions enabled. With limitations, A LB should be able to be converted to SS/FS ot DE, including the weight adjustment, has to make weight before being allowed to be used at the new position, so no speed advantage/exploit. A WR should be able to convert to RB or TE and vice versa, again, add the weight on a WR going to RB and even moreso for TE.
